March 13,2020 Coronavirus Update 2
As concerns over the spread of coronavirus continue to grow, the City of Watsonville wants to assure residents that their safety remains our top priority.
In light of the recent decision by the County Office of Education to close all schools throughout Santa Cruz County for the week of March 16th-20th, and continued guidance by the Center for Disease Control for individuals to stay home to mitigate the spread of the virus, we have made the difficult decision to close city offices.
Essential operations that are critical to the health and safety of the community will remain operational, including Police, Fire, Water, Wastewater and trash collection.
The length of this temporary closure will be reassessed next week, based on regional COVID-19 activity and guidance from County Health and CDC.
We understand these closures will pose challenges, but out of an abundance of caution for the health and well-being of our community and employees, these preventative steps were necessary.
Please understand circumstances are changing daily and we’re making our best efforts to keep you informed and prepared as the situation evolves.
As we continue to take recommended measures, we ask you to do the same.
