Two emergency shelters, including one in Watsonville, will open tomorrow (January 31, 2024) as our region braces for heavy rains and possible flooding.
The following sites will provide shelter:
Veterans Memorial Hall
215 E. Beach Street, Watsonville
Depot Park
119 Center Street, Santa Cruz
Line-up at both shelters will begin at noon tomorrow, with both sites remaining open until Friday, February 2, when operations are reassessed.
The Free Guide will operate the sites. Capacity is limited. Beds will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference for people with disabilities and those experiencing significant health/safety risks sleeping outdoors.
Guests will be provided with cots, blankets, and ready-to-eat meals. Pets are allowed if leashed and can be kept under voice control. Belongings must fit in small storage areas near bed assignments.

Mañana (31 de enero de 2024) se abrirán dos refugios de emergencia, incluyendo uno en Watsonville, mientras nuestra región se prepara para fuertes lluvias y posibles inundaciones.

La fila en ambos refugios comenzará mañana al mediodía y ambos sitios permanecerán abiertos hasta el viernes 2 de febrero, cuando se reevalúen las operaciones.
The Free Guide operará los sitios. La capacidad es limitada. Las camas se ofrecerán por orden de llegada, con preferencia para las personas con discapacidades y aquellas que experimenten riesgos importantes de salud y seguridad al dormir al aire libre.
Las personas recibirán catres, cobijas y comidas preparadas. Se permiten mascotas si están atadas y pueden mantenerse bajo control por voz. Las pertenencias deben caber en pequeñas áreas de almacenamiento cerca de las camas asignadas.
