For the first time, our agency is using drones to help Officers crack down on illegal fireworks during the upcoming Fourth of July celebrations.
The newly formed Watsonville Police Drone Unit is working with Officers patrolling our streets to better pinpoint where illegal fireworks are being set off.
As in past years, those caught igniting or possessing illegal fireworks will face a fine of $1,000 per violation. Tenants or property owners may also be cited if there is evidence that illegal fireworks were on the property, were sold on the property, or were set off on the property.
Illegal fireworks can be reported through our Watsonville Police mobile app or by calling 831-471-1151. Please have the following information ready: location, type of fireworks (ground or aerial), and whether they pose a hazard. Only call 9-1-1 if the fireworks pose a danger.
