[ARCHIVED] Watsonville Fire Summer Youth Academy

Youth Academy.2

Watsonville Fire Department is happy to announce that we will be holding two Youth Academies this summer for local teens 15-17 years of age. We are looking for teens who are interested in learning more about a career in the fire service and are responsible, committed, have a good attitude/demeanor, are eager to learn something new and are willing to push themselves beyond their current abilities. Youth Academy instructors will challenge and inspire you to help you realize your potential. Participants will also be expected to work together to inspire and motivate each other.

The Youth Academy will be Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm. A uniform, safety equipment and lunch will be provided for the participants. Due to the amount of material covered each day in a short time period, attendance is mandatory. The dates of the Youth Academies are:

  • Academy Session #1:  June 21st-July 2nd
  • Academy Session #2: July 26th-August 6th

Applications for Academy Session #1 are due by Wednesday, May 26th at 5pm.

Applications for Academy Session #2 are due by Monday, June 21st at 5pm.

Applicants wishing to be considered for either session should submit their applications by May 26, 2021 at 5pm.

Only 20 candidates will be selected per academy session. Priority will be given to teens who live within the city limits of Watsonville.

Selected candidates must attend the mandatory orientation for their assigned session. Failure to attend the orientation will result in being dropped from the program.

  •  Session #1 Orientation: Sat. June 5th 10am-12pm;
  • Session #2 Orientation: July 10th 10am-12pm

Youth Academy.1This program is being funded by Measure Y.
