[ARCHIVED] Evacuation Warnings issued for areas with strong likelihood of flooding during upcoming storm

FloodNotice_17A_18A_Warning_03_08_2115The City of Watsonville has issued an Evacuation Warning for several areas (please refer to map) with a strong likelihood of flooding during this week’s storm.

The National Weather Service predicts that the heaviest rainfall is expected to occur Thursday into Friday.

Residents under the Evacuation Warning should be prepared, protect their property, and be ready to leave should conditions change. Those impacted by recent floods should consider themselves at risk of future flooding. Now is the time to prepare a “go” kit and make a family plan that includes pets, essential items, and medications. If you haven’t done so, clear your storm drains of debris.

Emergency notifications will be made through CodeRED, an emergency phone notification system. Residents must register to receive information at www.scr911.org or text SCR911 to 99411. You can also receive notifications by downloading the Watsonville Police Department mobile app or the CodeRED app.

Free sandbags are available for Watsonville residents at Fire Station 1 (115 2nd St.) and the lot across the Buddhist Temple (423 Bridge St.). The lot across the Buddhist Temple will have pre-filled bags until supplies last. Ensure that your sandbags are properly stacked.
