Officers stumble across resident willing to go the extra mile to make Watsonville a better place
Our community members constantly impress us!
This is Daniel and he asked that we not use his last name because he doesn’t want any sort of recognition. However, we think it’s important to highlight some of the great things residents do for this community.
Our officers happened to stumble across Daniel in Waters Alley while on patrol. They were taken back by how clean the alley was because earlier in the day, it was scattered with garbage.
They soon noticed Daniel carrying two large plastic bags full of trash. As the officers were chatting with him, they find out Daniel had taken time out of his day to clean the area.
Daniel told our officers that he’s proud to be a Watsonville resident and wants to make it a better place to live. He asks that you do the same by keeping the city clean.
Residents are encouraged to organize themselves to hold regular cleanups in their neighborhood, park, trail or sloughs. Our Neighborhood Services Division will lend your group litter pick-up sticks, safety vests, as well as gloves and trash bags. They can also help you design a flyer to distribute to neighbors and promote your cleanup.

Los residentes de esta comunidad nos impresionan constantemente.
Les presentamos a Daniel. Nos pidió que sólo usáramos su primer nombre porque no quiere ningún tipo de reconocimiento. Sin embargo, para nosotros es muy importante destacar las cosas positivas que residentes hacen por esta comunidad.
Nuestros oficiales se toparon con Daniel cuando patrullaban por Waters Alley y quedaron muy sorprendidos al ver lo limpio que estaba el callejón, ya que horas antes había mucha basura regada.
Pronto se dieron cuenta que Daniel llevaba dos bolsas de plástico grandes llenas de basura.
En lo que platicaban con él, se enteraron que el hombre había tomado el tiempo para limpiar la zona.
Daniel le explicó a nuestros oficiales que se siente muy orgulloso ser residente de Watsonville y quiere que sea un mejor lugar para vivir. Daniel les pide a ustedes que hagan lo mismo y mantengan limpia la ciudad.
Residentes pueden movilizarse para realizar limpiezas regulares en sus vecindarios, parques, senderos o pantanos. Nuestra División de Servicios a Vecindarios puede proporcionar el equipo necesario y hasta ayudar a promover el evento.
