Volunteering at the Library

Generous and caring volunteers make the Watsonville Public Library the best it can be. Volunteering can have a positive impact on many peoples lives. We are seeking adult volunteers for these various roles:

Library Link

This program brings library materials to home bound community members. The LibraryLink program requires at least a 6 month commitment of 2-4 hours a month.

Literacy Tutor

Volunteers are trained to work one-on-one with a person who wants to learn to read or write.

Friends of the Library Volunteer

The Friends of the Library are seeking volunteers to help with book sales, fundraisers, and other activities in support of the library.

If you are interested in volunteering with the library, please fill out the volunteer application linked below.

Teens & Community Service Hours

Teens looking to do community service hours within the City of Watsonville can turn in a volunteer application at any time during the year. Volunteering applications are submitted through an online teen volunteer application form. The volunteer coordinator for the city will contact you later with further steps. Due to high demand we are only accepting waitlist applications for teen volunteers at this time.

Teens can apply for the Teen Action Council that provides teens in the Watsonville community an opportunity to build valuable leadership skills, earn community service hours, receive a $1,200 stipend, and get hands-on job skills and college-readiness training. Applications are accepted at the beginning of the school year and have a different application process than general library teen volunteering.

For volunteering outside of the library, we've put together a list of Community Service Locations that may be looking for volunteers so that you can complete your community service hours for graduation.

For more information contact Teen Librarian Celeste Carrillo at (831) 768-3419.

For City of Watsonville (including the library) volunteering information, please contact Sara Jewell from Parks & Community Services at (831) 768-3241 or sara.jewell AT watsonville.gov
