Park Planning Documents

The following documents are used by the Parks and Community Services Department to plan parks and recreation programs and facilities to meet the needs of our community.

Plans and Documents

  • Parks and Recreation Master Plan Adopted in 2009. Provides general direction for overall parks and recreation services.
  • 2020 Parks and Rec Strategic Plan - Adopted in February 2020. A supplement to the 2009 Master Plan that updates goals and strategic direction, as well as a five year action plan.
  • Strategic Action Plan - This Action Plan is revised annually and is derived directly from the goals outlined in the 2020 Parks and Rec Strategic Plan.
  • Watsonville Park Assessment Report - A comprehensive evaluation of the existing City and County parks within the
Watsonville community’s sphere of influence. The assessment offers a holistic perspective of the entire park system by providing a priority ranking that accounts for individual parks’ conditions, uniquenesses, and hyper-local communities. The goal of the report is to provide the City of Watsonville and County of Santa Cruz staff with a tool to help make data informed decisions when allocating funding for park improvement and planning efforts. The assessment establishes a priority ranking system that takes into consideration three key factors: condition, community value, and equity.
