Crisis Assessment Response & Engagement Team (CARE)

The Crisis Assessment Response & Engagement Team was established in 2016 and is dedicated to providing a compassionate and coordinated response to individuals and families facing mental health challenges.

A Santa Cruz County Mental Health Clinician partners directly with a Watsonville Police Officer to respond to calls involving individuals in crisis. This collaborative approach allows the Officer to address immediate safety concerns while the clinician focuses on the person’s clinical needs, ensuring they receive the most appropriate and comprehensive care.

To contact the CARE Team, please call 831-768-3310, Option 3.

Mobile Crisis Response Team

The Santa Cruz County Behavioral Health Mobile Crisis Response Team is available 24/7 to assist youth and adults in behavioral health crises across Santa Cruz County.

These teams meet individuals where they are, whether at a park, school, or other safe location. Trained professionals provide on-site support, stabilize crises, and connect individuals to follow-up care. This service is an additional resource for our police department, ensuring individuals in crisis get appropriate care while allowing our Officers to focus on public safety responsibilities.

Community members can reach the team by calling 1-800-952-2335 or visit santacruzhealth.org
