[ARCHIVED] Meet & Greet with newly appointed City Manager, René Mendez

Watsonville residents are invited to get to know their new City Manager, René Mendez, during a “Meet & Greet” next Wednesday, July 20. 

The event is scheduled from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Civic Plaza Community Room (4th floor). Light refreshments will be served. 

In April of this year, the Watsonville City Council unanimously appointed Mendez as the new City Manager. His first day on the job was July 1, 2022. 

Mendez comes to the City of Watsonville with three decades of experience in state, county, and city government and spent the last 17 years serving the community of Gonzales as the City Manager. The first-generation Mexican American holds a master’s degree in public policy from Duke University and has broad experience in working in and for demographically and geographically diverse communities.

Residentes de Watsonville están invitados a conocer a su nuevo Administrador de la Ciudad, René Méndez, durante un “Meet & Greet” el próximo miércoles 20 de julio.

El evento está programado de las 3:30 p.m. a las 5:00 p. m. en el Salón Comunitario de la Plaza Cívica (4to piso). Se servirán refrigerios ligeros.

En abril de este año, el Concilio de la Ciudad de Watsonville nombró por unanimidad a Méndez como nuevo administrador de la ciudad. Su primer día en el trabajo fue el 1 de julio de 2022.

Mendez tiene tres décadas de experiencia en el gobierno estatal, del condado y de la ciudad y pasó los últimos 17 años sirviendo a la comunidad de Gonzales como administrador de la ciudad. Méndez, un mexicoamericano de primera generación, tiene una maestría en políticas públicas de la Universidad de Duke y tiene una amplia experiencia trabajando en y para comunidades demográfica y geográficamente diversas.
