Tshaka Campbell


Originally from England, Tshaka moved to the United States at age of 10. Raised on his father’s teachings of solidarity and brought up on the teachings of greats from Garvey ‘Pan-Africanism’ to William Churchill, he adopted his father’s intense love of language. Performance accolades include earning the Grand Champion title at the 2005 San Francisco and 2007 Hollywood Championships and was awarded Best unsigned UK artist 2010. Tshaka has toured internationally, and has been featured at theatres from the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York to the poetry Café in London England.  He is the current Santa Clara County Poet Laureate, holds positions on the Board of Directors of the Poetry Center San Jose and is a Board advisor for SVCreates. He is the curator and host of “Beautiful Black Books” as part of Poetry Center San Jose and also conducts lectures, workshops in creative writings, spiritual verse and a number of other related topics.
