[ARCHIVED] Battalion Fire Chief retires after more than 33 years of service

Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement, Battalion Fire Chief Kirt Vojvoda!   

Kirt began his career with the City of Watsonville in 1989 as a Reserve Firefighter. That same year, he was given his first assignment following the devastating 6.0 magnitude Loma Prieta earthquake.  

Kirt undoubtedly demonstrated remarkable dedication, perseverance, and professionalism, earning several promotions over the years. And after more than 33 years of service to this community, he’s hanging up his boots.   

“I always wanted to be in the fire service,” said Battalion Chief Vojvoda. “What made it great was that I was able to be a Watsonville firefighter for that many years because there’s nothing like serving the community you grew up in.”  

Kirt, you have worked hard, and now you deserve to reap the rewards of your efforts!

¡Felicitaciones por su merecida jubilación, Jefe de Batallón de Bomberos Kirt Vojvoda! 

Kirt comenzó su carrera en la Ciudad de Watsonville en 1989 como bombero de reserva. Ese mismo año, se le dio su primera asignación tras el devastador terremoto Loma Prieta de magnitud 6.0.  

Sin duda, Kirt demostró una notable dedicación, perseverancia y profesionalismo, y obtuvo varios ascensos a lo largo de los años. Y después de más de 33 años de servicio a esta comunidad, cuelga su uniforme.  

“Siempre quise estar en el servicio de bomberos”, dijo el Jefe de Batallón Vojvoda. “Lo que lo hizo grandioso fue que pude ser bombero de Watsonville durante tantos años porque no hay nada como servir a la comunidad en la que creciste”. 

Kirt, has trabajado duro y ahora mereces cosechar los frutos de tus esfuerzos.
