[ARCHIVED] Cold Weather Emergency Shelters to Open

 Overnight Shelters Web Template

With cold overnight temperatures expected over the next few days, three temporary overnight shelters, including one in Watsonville, are set to open tonight for unhoused residents needing a warm place to stay. 

The following sites will provide shelter:  

Veterans Memorial Hall 
215 E. Beach Street, Watsonville 
Jan. 5-8 

Depot Park 
119 Center Street, Santa Cruz 
Jan.5-8 

Veterans Memorial Hall 
846 Front Street, Santa Cruz 
Jan. 7-8 

All shelters will operate from 8PM to 8AM, with a lineup beginning at 7PM. Beds will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with a preference for people with disabilities or who represent a health/safety risk. Guests will be provided with cots, pillows, blankets, and ready-to-eat meals. Pets are allowed if leashed and can be kept under voice control. No aggressive animals will be permitted at shelter sites. 

Food will be available once intakes and bed assignments are completed. Belongings must fit in small storage areas near bed assignments. The shelters will stay open until the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 9, and will be operated by The Free Guide.

Dado que se esperan temperaturas frías durante la noche en los próximos días, esta noche se abrirán tres refugios temporales, incluyendo uno en Watsonville, para personas sin hogar que necesiten un lugar cálido donde quedarse. 

Los siguientes sitios brindarán refugio: 

Veterans Memorial Hall  
215 E. Beach Street, Watsonville  
5-8 de enero  

Depot Park  
119 Center Street, Santa Cruz  
5-8 de enero

7-8 de enero 

Todos los refugios funcionarán de 8PM a 8AM., y el ingreso comenzará a las 7PM. Las camas se ofrecerán por orden de llegada, con preferencia para personas con discapacidad o que representen un riesgo para la salud/seguridad. Las personas recibirán catres, almohadas, cobijas y comidas preparadas. Se permiten mascotas si están atadas y pueden mantenerse bajo control por voz. No se permitirán animales agresivos en los sitios del refugio.

La comida estará disponible una vez que se completen las admisiones y la asignación de camas. Las pertenencias deben caber en pequeñas áreas de almacenamiento cerca de las camas asignadas. Los refugios permanecerán abiertos hasta la mañana del martes 9 de enero y serán operados por The Free Guide.
