City Manager Tamara Vides is pleased to announce Nick Calubaquib's appointment as Deputy City Manager. Calubaquib will join Deputy City Manager Nathalie Manning in helping lead Watsonville's administrative efforts.
Nick Calubaquib, who has served the City for 13 years, will continue as Director of the Parks and Community Services Department while taking on expanded responsibilities as Deputy City Manager. In this role, he will oversee community outreach, strategic planning, city-wide initiatives, and other efforts to advance the City’s priorities. His dedication to fostering strong connections with residents and extensive community service experience make him a key leader in driving positive change.
Nathalie Manning, a dedicated member of the Watsonville team since 2002, will continue as Deputy City Manager with a focus on Human Resources and internal operations across all City departments. Her deep understanding of the City's organizational needs and proven leadership have been instrumental in supporting staff and ensuring operational efficiency.

“This leadership team will work collaboratively with department directors to ensure Watsonville continues delivering exceptional services, fostering innovation, and meeting the evolving needs of our residents,” said City Manager Tamara Vides. “Nick and Nathalie bring unique strengths to our organization, and together, their leadership will help us address challenges, seize opportunities, and keep Watsonville a vibrant and thriving community.”
This leadership transition comes as Watsonville welcomes new Mayor Maria Orozco and Mayor Pro-Tempore Kristal Salcido.
“These appointments reflect Watsonville’s commitment to excellence,” said Mayor Maria Orozco. “I look forward to working with Tamara, Nick, Nathalie, and the entire leadership team to advance initiatives that enhance the quality of life for our residents.”
As Watsonville continues to prioritize community well-being, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth, this leadership team will play a crucial role in achieving the City’s strategic goals.
