[ARCHIVED] Flood Watch Issued for Santa Cruz County

The National Weather Service, NWS, has issued a Flood Watch for our region, starting today (February 3) at 4 PM and ending on Wednesday (February 5) at 4 AM. 

A Flood Watch means excessive rainfall could cause flooding. According to the NWS, the Watsonville region could see up to 4 inches of rain from now until Friday. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding happen. 

Two self-serve sandbag stations are available at:
• Joyce McKenzie Park, 500 Joyce Drive 
• Fire Station 1, 115 2nd Street

Our Emergency Preparedness page at watsonville.gov has more tips for you and your family to stay prepared, instructions for filling and setting up sandbags, guidance on signing up for emergency alerts, information on whether you live in a Special Flood Hazard Area, and many other resources to help you get ready. 

𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗔Ñ𝗢𝗟 
El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (NWS, por sus siglas en inglés) ha emitido una Vigilancia de Inundaciones para nuestra región, comenzando hoy (3 de febrero) a las 4 PM y finalizando el miércoles (5 de febrero) a las 4 AM. 

Una Vigilancia de Inundaciones significa que las lluvias excesivas podrían causar inundaciones. Según el NWS, la región de Watsonville podría recibir hasta 4 pulgadas de lluvia desde ahora hasta el viernes. Quienes viven en áreas propensas a inundaciones deben estar preparados para actuar en caso de que ocurran inundaciones. 

Dos estaciones de bolsas de arena de autoservicio están disponibles en: 
 • Parque Joyce McKenzie, 500 Joyce Drive 
 • Estación de Bomberos 1, 115 2nd Street
