The Opportunity to Work (OTW) program is a 6-month on-the-job training program, with the opportunity to extend it based on performance, budget, and necessity. This on-the-job training program is designed to provide incumbents with the basic skills necessary to be job ready and have the ability to seek and maintain gainful employment. The Opportunity to Work program is designed to offer various types of placement opportunities in a variety of departments within the city. The placements provide an introduction to career options and mentors while allowing incumbents to learn about the work environment. The OTW job training model can provide a competitive advantage by developing a highly-skilled workforce to establish a continual pipeline of qualified workers.
Placements may be available in the following areas:
- Utility Worker I
- Integrated Waste Worker
- Airport Operations Specialist
- Library Clerk
- Office Assistant I
Mandatory Orientation | Tuesday, April 4th - 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
Community Room | 275 Main Street, 4th Floor
Applicants must attend the orientation to be considered for the on-the-job training program. During orientation, applicants will learn more about the program and have an opportunity to visit the various worksites to get a hands-on understanding of the positions available. Onsite application assistance will be available, but applicants are encouraged to apply ahead of time. Interested applicants must apply and register for orientation to help us plan.
