[ARCHIVED] Improving Pedestrian Safety with Daylighting Crosswalks

Starting January 1, 2025, California State Law AB413 will prohibit parking within 20 feet of a marked crosswalk or intersection, even if no red curbs or signs are in place. This law, known as the "Daylighting Bill," is designed to improve visibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers, making our streets safer for everyone. 

📍 What You Need to Know: 

 • Parking within 20 feet of crosswalks or intersections is prohibited starting January 1. 

 • The City will issue Warning Notices at the start of 2025. 

 • Citations will be issued following a warning period. 

 • Red curbs or signs will be added during future street improvement projects, prioritizing school crosswalks and areas based on safety concerns.

A partir del 1 de enero de 2025, la Ley Estatal de California AB413 prohibirá estacionarse a menos de 20 pies de un cruce peatonal marcado o una intersección, incluso si no hay bordes rojos o señales colocadas. Esta ley, conocida como el "Daylighting Bill," tiene como objetivo mejorar la visibilidad para peatones, ciclistas y conductores, haciendo que nuestras calles sean más seguras para todos. 

📍 Lo que Debe Saber: 

 • Estacionarse a menos de 20 pies de cruces peatonales o intersecciones estará prohibido a partir del 1 de enero. 

 • La Ciudad emitirá Avisos de Advertencia al inicio de 2025. 

 • Se emitirán multas una vez que termine un período de advertencia. 

 • Se agregarán bordillos o señales rojas durante futuros proyectos de mejora de calles, priorizando los cruces escolares y áreas basadas en preocupaciones de seguridad.
