[ARCHIVED] Watsonville Civic Plaza Glows Purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Civic Plaza on Main Street glowing purple

The Watsonville Civic Plaza at 275 Main Street is glowing purple this October for the first time to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Our City leaders, including City Manager Tamara Vides, Interim Chief of Police David Rodriguez, and members of the Watsonville City Council, joined Monarch Services to launch this important initiative.

By lighting the Civic Plaza purple, we aim to raise awareness, show support, and encourage important conversations around this issue that impacts too many families in our community. So far in 2025, the Watsonville Police Department has responded to more than 130 domestic violence-related calls. Through specialized training and a long-standing partnership with Monarch Services, our Officers work to ensure victims are connected with the resources they need.

If you or someone you know needs help, Monarch Services is available 24/7 at 1-888-900-4232. Learn more at monarchscc.org

We're proud to stand with survivors and reaffirm our commitment to building a community where domestic violence has no place
